Cupcakes For the Oscars...

 

 

I haven't baked anything for a long time so on Sunday I made double chocolate cupcakes for the Oscars. I used my recipe from Hummingbird Bakery and I think they tasted pretty divine. What I like about them is that there is not a lot of sugar or flour in them- I think this just makes them taste better and the cocoa really stands out.

We Were Stuffed...

 

 

This past weekend we drove out to Reston, VA to spend time with my Mom's side of the family. I love Reston and was happy that we got to spend some time there shopping and walking around. We ate lunch at The American Tap Room. Let me tell you, this place had some GOOD food. I tried fried pickles for the first time and enjoyed their bacon jalapeño mac and cheese. After lunch a few of us split up. My mom, aunt, and I ran over to the Red Velvet Cupcakery to pick up some treats while the rest of our group walked over to Apple to help my grandmother purchase her first iPad. We stuck around and peeked into a few different shops and then headed to my Aunt and Uncle's house to chat and enjoy our cupcakes. It was a fun and relaxing day and I hope that we can do it again soon.

A Day On The Shore...

 

 

  

Yesterday Sarah and I needed to skip town so we drove across the bridge and spent the day in St. Michael's. We took our time looking in all the little shops, scavenging for antiques, and even managed to find a cupcake shop along the way! I love these Summer day trips. Hopefully, there will be many more to come!

Sweet Tooth Saturday...

The Leaves Are Changing Colors...

The leaves are changing colors and that means that Fall is in full swing. I'm ready for warm apple cider, pumpkin patches, boots, tights, pumpkin pie, and lots of chilly days!

Sweet...

While we were in Boston we stumbled upon the most dreamy cupcake shop. It's called "Sweet" and if you are in Boston you must go there. With floor to ceiling pink wallpaper and tufted pink couches and old black and white movies playing non-stop it's the perfect place to go and have a cupcake. I fell in love with it the instant I walked in.Peace and Love,

Spontaneous...

While Sarah and I were lounging in her pool on Tuesday we both decided that we wanted to go somewhere. We started throwing out ideas, some realistic some not, and decided to be spontaneous and go to D.C. for dinner and desert. Sarah's sister Erin joined us and we went to Ted's Bulletin for dinner and Georgetown Cupcakes for desert. Dinner was really good but I must say that the cupcakes were to die for! I got red velvet, double chocolate, coconut, and white chocolate raspberry! (They weren't all for me.) Totally delicious! Definitely going back :)

Red Velvet...

The other day someone brought GIANT red velvet cupcakes in for the office. None of the girls wanted them so I got to take them home. Oh my gosh, I have never eaten so much cupcake in my life. They were SO good!

Jelly-Filled...

Last night I came home from work and and bit into a little piece of heaven. It was a jelly-filled cupcake from...Red Robin. Who knew that other thanmaking delicious burgers they also made delicious cupcakes!

Strawberry Cheesecake Cupcakes...

For some reason I was really worried that I was going to mess these up. Turns out I didn't and they tasted great! They were actually super easy to make. I made the cake part at midnight on Sunday and then finished them off with the icing and topping on Monday. So Yummy!!

Next cupcake on the list is the Black Bottom.
