Lesson 4...

Lesson 4 in the "Two Peas In A Bucket" photography course is the kick-off lesson for lighting. It mainly focuses on White Balance. The challenge was to take an object and shoot it in auto mode, a mode with tungsten lighting, and then to shoot it with your custom white balance. I decided to use my favorite piece of office equipment: my rainbow post-its!!! I think the third photo is my favorite, the one with the custom white balance. Needless to say it's something that I need to continue working with!

Have a happy and safe Labor Day!

Summer Reading...

I always try to set a goal for myself doing a lot of reading during the Summer. This Summer I cut down the number of books a bit but I did manage to read everything on my list. Also, I borrowed a book and read and e-book that are not pictured. I loved each and everyone of these books and they were all so different. I would have to say that my two favorites were The Hangman's Daughter and One Day.

This also just so happens to be part 2 of lesson 2 in the "Two Peas In A Bucket" photography course. It's all about working with exposure. So there you have it! Knocking out two topics in on blog post!!

Shutter Speed...

Moving on to lesson 2 in the "Two Peas In A Bucket" photography course! Now we start working with Shutter speed. The object in this lesson was to note the amount of detail that is in your picture depending on the shutter speed you use. I did have a bit of trouble with my photos getting darker the higher I put the shutter speed. Other than that, I think it's so cool how a matter of seconds can make one photo look so different from another!

All About Aperture...

I am constantly striving to get better at my photography. It is one of my biggest passions and I want to become as good at it as possible. A few days ago I stumbled upon this free photography course from Two Peas In A Bucket. I was hesitant at first because it was a free course and I didn't know how good it was going to be, but let me tell you it hits all of the core Photography elements and includes great challenges along with each lesson! The first lesson was all about aperture; learning how to focus on single elements or to focus on everything in your picture. The challenge was to use three different f/stop settings to demonstrate how the lower the f/stop the more that is in focus and the higher the f/stop the less that is in focus. Needless to say I am a fan of higher f/stop settings! Here are my three photos from the lesson 1 challenge.
