June 1st...

 

I cannot believe that May has come and gone already! I hope the rest of the Summer goes by a little slower. Still, June is one of my favorite months so I am happy that it's here.  

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and a great couple first days of June!

Escaping Through Watercolors...

I am no artist, but one thing that truly relaxes me is painting. I love to pull out my watercolor sets and just sit down with some good music and sketch and paint. It gives my mind a chance to wander and I end up with something that is unique and totally mine. This week I decided to mimic a piece that I had seen in someone else's home. It was super simple (just three black triangles) but I love the way it turned out and I think it is a great addition to the wall behind my bed. I don't know what I will paint next but I do hope to do more of it this Summer!

Let's Talk About Film...

More and more lately I find myself falling in love with film cameras. I think a lot of it is the fact that I love the rawness of the photos and the little imperfections that come with it. I also like that you aren't going to know what you really have until you get the film developed. I used to be in love with my instax mini but sadly it died a while back. I do have an instant camera on my list of things to buy but for the sake of this Summer I am thinking of just using a disposable camera. I also might use my parents' old camera from the 90's and see how that turns out. I'm really excited to try out some of these options and see what I like best! It will be such a fun way to capture Summer memories!

Memorial Day...

Happy Memorial Day everyone!! I am so thankful for all of those who sacrifice and give their lives for this country. Many of the men in my family have served and this is a special day to recognize & remember them. 

I hope that everyone enjoys their day and spends time with family & friends!

Rainy Days...

I decided to take time out today and just relax. I don't think that it's hit me that my Summer has started. I've spent some time painting and reading. I'm also working on organizing my room. Since it's raining I even had a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque for lunch. All in all it's just nice to take a little time to breathe and forget about all of the messy things in life. In other news, I'm really loving the peonies from our garden! I put some in my room and they just look gorgeous!

Time Flies...

It's crazy to think that around this time 3 years ago I was getting ready to travel to Greece & Italy for two weeks with all of my high school friends. It was one of those experiences where I knew that I had to savor every moment, but at the same time there are moments that I have started to forget. It's rare that a Senior class trip would be to such amazing places but the fact that I got to do it with people that I have known since 3rd grade made it all the more special. I absolutely love this pictures that my friend took with his film camera! Needless to say, I am ready for more experiences like this. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do & traveling with friends just adds to the adventure. I do have few little family trips planned this Summer but also hope to throw in a few quick trips with friends. There is a whole lot more of the world that I want to see and I am ready to go!
