Back In Time...

There's something so dreamy about old black and white photos! A few weeks ago I went to visit my grandparents and my grandmother had tons and tons of old black and white photos laid out on her table that she was going through. I came across these photos of my grandparents a few days ago and I fell in love with them. They remind me of picnics in the park and warm Summer days. I'm looking for a few photos that I can frame and hang on a gallery wall. I love the idea of having sweet memories like these hanging around my space.

What about you? Do you have any old family photos that are particularly special to you?

Peace and Love,
Em

5 Records That I Can't Stop Listening To...

I am very lucky in that I have inherited most of my parent's records and that they have great taste in music. The majority of my records are theirs from the 60s and 70s. I have collected a few vintage records here and there but more than half of my albums were theirs. Because of this I have some great Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, etc. One of the best things is that my dad has all of the Beatles' albums. ALL of them!
I stole the idea for today's post from a blog I had favorited a while back. There are a handful of records that I can't stop listening to lately and thought I would share. I love knowing what other people are listening to and finding new bands and music to like.

// Abbey Road // The Beatles

I typically say that my favorite Beatles' record is "The White Album" but this one has been in heavy rotation lately. My favorite songs are "Come Together", "Oh! Darling", and "The End".

// Rumours // Fleetwood Mac

Stevie Nicks is one of my favorite ladies on the planet and I've always had a thing for Fleetwood Mac. I think this is my favorite record of theirs. "The Chain" and "Gold Dust Woman" are my top songs.

// Harvest // Neil Young

By now everyone knows how much I love Neil Young. This record makes me happy but, then again, all of his stuff is great.

// Born To Run // Bruce Springsteen

I pretty much grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles. My dad has a dvd of all of Bruce's music videos and we would watch it all the time when I was a kid. This record doesn't have some of my favorite songs on it but I've really been loving "Thunder Road" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" lately.

// Dreamboat Annie // Heart

This is by far my favorite Heart record. It's a little more laid back than some of their later stuff but I love listening to it during the Summer. "Magic Man" is my absolute favorite.

These are all old albums that I have been listening to. I might do another post where I talk about the more current music that I am liking. But what about you?! What are your favorite records right now?

Christmas 1964...

I came upon this picture of my mom the other day. It's from Christmas 1964. Of course I love old photos, but old Christmas photos are the best. Perhaps its all the tinsel that makes this one so magical.

Calling All Thrifters...

I live in the wrong place for someone who loves good thrift store finds. We have our share of Goodwills and Salvation Army's but they never seem to carry any gems. I am on a constant search for vintage decor and around this time of year I am in need of vintage ornaments. I started collecting pink vintage glass ornaments about 2 years ago and probably have 20 pieces in my collection. It is so hard to find ornaments like this at a decent price. I see fellow bloggers who live in Kansas or Missouri come home with boxes of this stuff and they only spend a few bucks. If you're lucky enough to find vintage ornaments around here, they cost an arm and a leg. All that to say I guess I need to move down south. That or I need to find myself a thrifty friend who knows where all the deals are.

A Look At Lune Vintage...

 Lune Vintage is a blog that I have looked at for some time. I love all of her pictures and her style is so bohemian. It wasn't until recently that I checked back into her shop and saw all of the vintage goodies! It is the perfect place for any little hippie to shop and I love the new layout of the store! Here are a few of my favorite pieces so far!

Lady of Style: Bleubird Vintage

Today's style icon is the gorgeous Miss James from over at "Bleubird Vintage" blog. Besides being my vintage soul-mate, James owns her own retro clothing store and is a busy mom of three. She always comes up with great projects, looks, and playlists. I'm super jealous of her ability to pair old with new and she always seems to get the best thrift store finds. For inspiration and to see some of her best looks check out her weekly "What I Wore" feature. Peace and Love,

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

Yesterday we put up and decorated our Christmas Tree! Yes, we are those kind of people. Christmas is the favorite holiday in our house and every year we can't wait for it to come. We continued our tradition of decorating it at night with Christmas music blaring and a plate-full of cookies. We had a lot of fun getting into the Christmas mood. Now I just have to figure out what I want to get everyone!

Lady of Style: Alexz Johnson...

I have been a fan of Alexz Johnson ever since episode one of Instant Star. It was my favorite show for years and I was so bummed when it went off the air. But not only am I a fan of her acting and her amazing music but her style also inspires me. I love how it's simple and yet it's really stylish. She wears a lot of vintage and a lot of black. She is also a fan of boots at all times and I love how she dons a hat every now and then. I love the boyfriend shirts paired with the girly blazers too! Here are some of Alexz's looks that I love!

Here's what Alexz had to say about her personal style:
