11 Things...

I must be so oblivious because I didn't notice this until now, but Ruth over at Isn't That Sew tagged me to be part of the Liebster Awards! I'm pretty sure the contest is over by now but I thought it would still be fun to answer the questions and am so flattered that Ruth chose me to be a part of it!!

First, you are supposed to tell 11 things about yourself.

1. I am a Christian.
2. I am going to school to major in Journalism.
3. My favorite band of all time is Hanson.
4. My car has Grateful Dead stickers on it.
5. I am a huge fan of naps.
6. I've sung at the Colosseum in Rome.
7. I'm single and ready to mingle.
8. I have Canadian citizenship.
9. I have a thing for owls.
10. I plan on moving to Tennessee in 2014.
11. One of my favorite things to buy is vinyl.

Now I answer the 11 questions that Ruth came up with!!

1. What makes you most nostalgic?
Looking at old pictures.

2. Where are you from?
Maryland (close to Baltimore) born and raised.

3. What is your least favorite chore?
I must admit I am not a very good chores person, my whole family can attest. If I had to choose a least favorite I would say cleaning the dishes.

4. Pizza or Pie?
Pie. Definitely pie.

5. Why do you blog?
My goal with blogging has never been to gain a lot of followers (that would just be a bonus). I just always wanted a way to document my life and share my passions of writing, music, and photography. Through blogging I can do all of those things. I look at my blog like it's my journal. Bottom line: I just want to inspire and be inspired.

6. What's your daily routine like?
Depending on what day of the week it is the routine is always different. The one thing that is always the same is that I start my day with a big cup of coffee.

7. The Beatles or Elvis.
The Beatles. I still have hopes of being Mrs. McCartney one day.

8. What is your "dream" job?
My dream job would be working as a lifestyle journalist. However, ultimately it would be as a wife and  mother.

9. What was the last concert you attended?
A Train concert last Summer. Don't worry I've got two big shows coming up next week!

10. That's a funny story -------- (fill in the blank).
When two of my best friends and I were on a road trip to New England and wound up lost in the Bronx for 3 hours.

11. Movies or TV?
I'm gonna have to go with movies.

So there you have it. Maybe you know a little bit more about me now :) Thanks again to Ruth for picking me to participate!

All About Aperture...

I am constantly striving to get better at my photography. It is one of my biggest passions and I want to become as good at it as possible. A few days ago I stumbled upon this free photography course from Two Peas In A Bucket. I was hesitant at first because it was a free course and I didn't know how good it was going to be, but let me tell you it hits all of the core Photography elements and includes great challenges along with each lesson! The first lesson was all about aperture; learning how to focus on single elements or to focus on everything in your picture. The challenge was to use three different f/stop settings to demonstrate how the lower the f/stop the more that is in focus and the higher the f/stop the less that is in focus. Needless to say I am a fan of higher f/stop settings! Here are my three photos from the lesson 1 challenge.

London Calling...

I don't know what it is. Maybe the Olympics triggered it, maybe it's because I just read a book by David Nicholls, or maybe it's because one of dear friends just got back from spending the Summer there but whatever it is I am DYING to go to London! I want to sip tea in Notting Hill, go on the eye, ride around in one of those mini cabs, and meeting a cute brit wouldn't be bad either. Guess it's just one of those things that I will have to put on my bucket list. This girl has got to get herself to London!!

August 14...

I like Tuesdays in the Summer because they are one of my free days. I normally spend lots of time reading or watch a movie. Whatever I do, it's nice to know that I have the whole day to spend as I please. Today I woke up and, as usual, the first thing on my mind was coffee. After breakfast I made a Goodwill run but unfortunately came home empty handed. I also ordered some stuff for my future pad, caught up on Wilfred, and picked up my school supplies. I think that I'm going to top my day off with some quiet reading time. Hope everyone else had a beautiful Tuesday!

Lady Of Style: Jane Birkin...

As much as I love getting dressed up, I also live for lounging around in a comfy tee. Thanks to Miss Birkin, a t-shirt a jeans doesn't have to be boring- it can be stylish! She was considered one of the most beautiful women in the world at the time and yet was most often spotted in a plain white tee and bellbottoms. She made everything look so natural & effortless and I love that about her. I am also a huge admirer of her flare for mini dresses. Oh, and we mustn't forget the classic Birkin Bag!! Here are a few of my favorite looks from Jane, which prove that comfy can still look beautiful.
