What I Wore...

Sandals- Forever 21, Sunglasses- Forever 21, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tee- NBC store
Necklace- Isn't That Sew, Leggings- Forever 21.

The whole idea of dressing up for college went out the window during my very first semester. It just seemed impossible to look "cute" everyday and frankly, I just wasn't motivated to put in that much effort all the time. However, I still think that you can put together cute and comfortable outfits that aren't a hassle. For my very first day of school I wore my favorite sandals and leggings and paired them with a comfortable tee and some sunglasses. I finished it off with one of my favorite necklaces just to dress it up a little. I plan on putting together more outfits like this during the school year and sharing them on the blog. Let me know that you think!

First Day...

Yesterday marked the beginning of another year of college for me. I am on a new campus, experiencing new things, and I get to share some of it with my sister! And even though school isn't my favorite thing, I do love pretty school supplies! This year I got all of my gear at Target and found some really cute things. I especially love my floral portfolio and my colorful notebooks. Here's to another successful semester!

Summer Favorites 2013...

It's that time of year again- time for summer favorites!

1. My day trip to NYC! It was such a fun day in the city with friends.
2. My favorite album of the summer would have to be Anthem by Hanson, with The Civil Wars coming in a close second.
3. One of my favorite things about summer is all of the time that I get to spend reading. I went to the library so much this summer and crossed a handful of books off of my reading list.
4. I worked out almost every night this summer. It was nice to just listen to my music while working on my fitness.
5. I was able to go and see my good friend, Todd Wright, perform at "Acoustic on the Green" in August. This was a fabulous night!
6. I started getting back to writing. It has made me feel so good and I am really proud of the pieces that I wrote this summer.
7. Seeing Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was so surreal and a definite check off of my bucket list.
8. The vscocam app has to be my favorite app of the summer. I used it to edit all of my photos!
9. My trip to Nashville was such a blast! I had so much fun with my family and it was awesome to start familiarizing myself with the city that I hope to move to next year.
10. Joey Graceffa. I watched so many youtube vlogs this summer but this boy and his videos have to be my favorite!
11. Coconut Cupcakes. Whenever I let myself have something sweet this summer it was most likely a coconut cupcake. Divine!
12. Starbucks- another one of my downfalls. My drink of choice this summer was an iced vanilla latte.
13. I made it a priority to give myself some "me time" every day to try to relax and meditate. This is something that my therapist suggested I do and I think that it has really helped me. I hope to keep this going throughout my semester of school.
14. I loved looking at Forever21's instagram and seeing all of their "look of the day" and "what's in my bag" posts.
15. Crape myrtles. They are just gorgeous and will forever remind me of beach houses.
16. Jack Reacher. This has to be my favorite movie that I watched this summer. It was SO good!
17. Late night conversations in our hotel room with family are definitely high on my list of favorite summer memories.
18. I started watching Sex & the City.
19. I have connected with so many lovely bloggers and started following some beautiful blogs this summer.
20. I spent a wonderful day at the beach with friends.
21. Pinterest. I spent entirely too much time on pinterest this summer but I also stumbled upon so many things that have inspired me.
22. Brian Roberts is back. I didn't watch the Orioles as much as I wanted to this summer but I am thrilled that my boy, B-rob, is back in the game.
23. The smell of sunscreen. Bobbi Brown's Beach constantly reminds me of this summer.
24. Flip flops from Old Navy in all of their beautiful colors. I wore mine all summer long!
25. HGTV. I watched a lot of HGTV this summer. Design Star is one of my summer staples.

And there you have it, my favorite things from this summer!
What were some of your favorite things? I would love to know :)

Job...

This summer I read through the books of Psalms and Esther and now I have made my way to the book of Job. I always try to read my Bible at least once a day and while I normally find something moving and captivating some books just affect me more than others. Ever since I started the book of Job I have felt closer to God, I have felt more convicted, and my attitude towards life has changed. All I can say is that God is so good, even when things seem rough.

Are there any books of the Bible or verses that are heavily affecting you lately?

Feet In the Sand...

I love everything about the beach...ok, maybe not the seagulls. But other than that I do love everything: the salt air, the colorful umbrellas, the sound of the waves, the boardwalk! Last Friday I went with two friends to Rehoboth, DE for a beach day. It was one more thing for me to cross off of my summer list and we had such a wonderful time. The weather was perfect, we found a great location on the beach, and we spent hours laying in the sun. We also went hunting for sea shells and did a little shopping & eating on the boardwalk. And let me just say that Rehoboth has some gorgeous beach houses. There was one neighborhood that we drove through multiple times that had me all kinds of smitten. I would love to own one of those houses and just go there and write for the summer. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time at the beach and it was a great little trip to end the summer. Here's to more beach days next summer!

Six Things About Me...

The lovely Alli, from Our Misfit Isle, was kind enough to tag me in a "6 Things About Me" post. I love getting to know more about the bloggers that I follow + admire so these types of posts are always fun for me to read. So, without further ado....

1. What is your morning routine?
I am not a morning person so I normally don't wake up until around 9am or a little later. On the days when I do have to wake up early it is always a struggle. In any case, I cannot start off my day without a cup of coffee. I drink that and normally have fruit or a bagel and check my emails, my instagram feed, and all of my favorite blogs. I also try to take a little time each morning to write down lists or ideas and just get the creative juices flowing. Then it's off to shower and put on my make up.

2. What is your bedtime routine?
I have a lot of little things that I like to do before bed! I love to spend time on the internet surfing Pinterest, online shopping, and watching various vlogs. Then I typically take care of my skincare routine and put on my pj's so that I'm all ready for bed. Some nights I will spend time writing in my journal but most of the time I like to read. I always try to read a chapter in my Bible each night meditate on that while I talk to God. After all of that I might browse Netflix and watch a show or two before I actually fall asleep. I can't go to sleep without there being some type of white noise in the background so I normally put on music or a podcast and will fall asleep to that.

3. What phone etiquette do you follow?
I have to say that I text more than I actually talk on the phone. It's not that I have a problem talking on the phone with people but with everyone's busy schedules I just think texting can be easier. I do always try to answer texts right away- I hate when people leave me hanging and don't reply to my texts for hours.

4. Have you ever watched an entire series of a TV show in a weekend? What was it?
I'm pretty sure that I watched all of "Freaks & Geeks" in one weekend. I got really hooked on that show and just couldn't stop watching!

5. What is something really weird that you do?
I'm sure that my sister and my parents could list a whole bunch of things that I do that are weird, ha! One thing is that whenever I order a dessert that includes hot fudge I always put it on my teeth and make my best hillbilly face. There are plenty of pictures to prove this- I'm just not brave enough to post them :)

6. What TV character do you relate to the most?
Back in high school there was this Canadian teen drama called "Instant Star" that I was obsessed with. It was about a young singer-songwriter and her struggles of balancing boys, music, and school. At the time I think I related to her; I tried to dress like her and cut my hair like her. I'm not so sure who I relate to most at this point in my life...maybe "Jess" from New Girl

Thanks so much for tagging me, Alli! I'm going to try and think of some questions so that I can tag a few of my blogger friends to do a post!

Peace and Love,
Em

Fayetteville, WV...

This past weekend my mom & I headed out to WV with my grandparents for a family reunion. The last time that I went I was just a little thing and I felt like it was time for me to go again. It was so great seeing members of my family that I hadn't seen in a long time. Our family basically took over the hotel and boy, are we a crazy bunch! I especially loved sharing a room with my Aunt Dawn who is so dear to me. We had our own screening of High Fidelity & there were late night conversations that lasted until 2 am. We also spent some time exploring the town. I got to see where my grandparents first met and the theater that my grandmother worked at when she was a teenager. But most of all I loved being able to spend time with my family, to laugh until we cried, and to just talk about life in general. Those are the important things.

Burnt Out...

Today is one of those catch-up days. I making lots of lists, sending out emails, editing photos, and getting some sleep. Yesterday was a full day of driving back home from WV and I was just run down. It was a busy and fun weekend but that combined with my NYC trip has just left me a little exhausted and out of sorts. Plus, I am taking another day trip on Friday. Let's just say that I am getting used to spending lots of time in the car. I really did have a great time this past weekend hanging out with my fab family and I hope to have pictures up tomorrow!

Peace and Love,
Em
