A Summer Evening in Fell's Point...

I live about 20 minutes outside of both Baltimore and Washington DC and I don't take advantage of it like I should. Lately I've become more adventurous and am trying to make more of an effort to explore the cities around me. A few weeks ago I went with my friend, Haylee, to Fell's Point for dinner. If you are ever in the Baltimore area you need to visit Fell's Point- it's one of my favorite parts of the city. It contains high-end shops and some of my favorites (Anthropologie anyone?) and a great selection of restaurants. Haylee and I enjoyed dinner at Sofie's crepes. I've never actually had a real crepe before and these were delicious. After a little window shopping we headed down to one of my favorite places to get gelato- Pitango. This place makes some of the best gelato and has some of the most delicious flavors you could dream of. I ended up mixing a scoop of the mojito gelato with a scoop of the dark chocolate and it was absolutely divine. We ended the night with a walk down around the docks. These little summer adventures are going to be missed...

Take Me Back...

Last Thursday my friend Haylee and I took what will probably be our last beach trip of the summer :(  We drove up to Rehoboth and spent the day laying out on the beach. We spent time wandering into some of the local shops, buying souvenir t-shirts, and sipping on fresh dairy-free smoothies. These day trips to the beach are one of the things I will miss most about summer. So for right now I am going to relish in the thought of my feet in the sand and sea-salt air in my hair....

Sea and Sand...

Last week I went with my sister and a dear friend to Rehoboth, DE for our first official beach trip of the summer! Let me tell you, it was the absolute perfect day. We arrived just in time for lunch which we grabbed and ate on the beach. Then we spent hours enjoying the perfect weather and sunbathing. We took walks on the beach, searched for shells, enjoyed fruity drinks and boardwalk fries, and chatted for hours. After our time on the beach we went to our traditional pizza place and then followed up with some amazing custard for dessert. We are all currently nursing sunburns but we already have our next beach trip scheduled and I can't wait to go back! Days like this are what summer is all about- the sun, the sand, and spending time with your best friends.

Rainy Day Coffee Date...

There's really nothing better than grabbing a cup of coffee (in my case a cappuccino) and having a long talk with a friend. Last Thursday my friend, Cynthia, and I went downtown to Annapolis to enjoy some of the local coffee shops and play around with her adorable new pooch! Unfortunately, the weather had other plans and it was pouring rain and in the 50s. We grabbed drinks at City Dock and found a spot underneath an awning close to the water and sat and chatted for a few hours. We talked about our summer plans, books that we're reading and books that we want to read, and our future goals. It was just what I needed and made for the perfect start to my weekend.

Ellicott City...

On Saturday I went to old Ellicott City with a friend. It is such a charming place with rows of antique stores and boutiques and plenty of old architecture. We took our time and walked around, peaking into some fun little shops, and then stopped for dinner. The weather was perfect and it was nice to just relax and explore. I hadn't been to Ellicott City for a few years and it was lovely to go back. We found out that on the weekends they play movies on the side of a building so we are definitely going to try that this Summer!

Just What I Needed...

Retail therapy has been much needed and today I treated myself to a few fun nail polishes and some earrings. A few hours out with my friend Tara was just the thing to help me relax for a while during this incredibly hectic week.

A Little Chai...

Today I was able to go on a lovely coffee date with my friend Sarah. We went to Starbucks, I ordered a chai latte, and we sat there for a few hours talking. Little outings like this are very important to me. I think it's vital to make a little time for yourself and your friends during the week just to catch up and pour your hearts out.  

I hope that everyone has a beautiful Friday night. Mine involves pancakes and journaling :)

Christmastime At the Gaylord...

 

 

 

Tuesday night Sarah and I drove into D.C. to visit the Gaylord hotel and see it all decked out for the holidays. This hotel is gorgeous in and of itself but seeing it all lit up and filled with Christmas decorations just made it that much more stunning. We saw the lighting of the tree and then walked around to look at all the lights. We finished our evening with dinner and great conversation at Cadillac Ranch. It was a great way to start off the week before Christmas!

Girl's Night...

 

Last night I needed to get out of the house and luckily Tara did too. (Us girls need to stick together!) We stopped off at the Metro Diner for a bite to eat and then paraded around Annapolis to do some Christmas shopping. All I know is that this girl is one of my favorite people! We had such a good time and I'm glad that we have worked so hard to each other a lot lately :)

Blessed...

 

I am so blessed to have the friends that I do. God has put them in my life for a reason and I am so happy that He has. I can't believe how lucky I got when it came to my close friends and I don't know what I would do without them. Last night Tara and I enjoyed dinner outside under twinkle lights and then some much needed frozen yogurt and a movie.

Saying Goodbye...

 Along with all the stuff that is been going on in my life lately, I found out last week that my best friend is going to Singapore for 3 months. I am extremely happy for her and know that God is going to use her for His glory and to do incredible things. But at the same time, I can't help but be a little sad. Sarah and I have been through a lot together over the years: we've done a lot of traveling (including to Greece and Italy), we've tasted a lot of cupcakes, and shared a lot of adventures. But the bottom line is that we have been there for each other through the good and the bad. It's hard for me to think that I won't be able to meet up with her when I need to talk or want to do something on a whim. But it's just three months, and I know that this is what God has in the plans for both of us. 

Last night we got together for the last time before she leaves. We went out for Mexican and just sat talking for hours. It was really fun and I cherish every conversation that I have with her. 

I can't wait to see what this three months has in store for the both of us. I will be praying for this girl everyday and missing her like crazy! I can't wait to see how God uses her and I can't wait for the adventures that we will share when she gets back!

Rain Boots And Chai Tea...

Yesterday it rained like crazy here! I got soaked to the bone running to my car at school. But hey, I like having an excuse to wear my rain boots. 

This morning I met up with two friends from high school who I haven't seen in forever. It was good to catch up and talk about the past over a cup of Chai Tea. One of my friends is headed to London in a few days to study at Oxford for a semester. SO jealous!!

7/22/12...

 I got to spend Saturday night with one of my favorites ladies! Tara and I went out for Thai food at "Lemongrass," indulged in some retail therapy, and enjoyed a movie. Sometimes all a girl needs is some wonton soup and a romantic comedy with one of her best friends...

HOT in DC...

 Last Tuesday Tara and I spent the day galavanting around the Capitol. We enjoyed lunch at the Corner Bakery Cafe and followed it up with lots of walking. It was so hot that we had to take plenty of water breaks and sat down and people watched in some pretty little parks. We ended our day in Dupont Circle with cupcakes and ice cream and a little bit of retail therapy. Could a girl ask for more?

Good Friends, Good Food...

 Last night I finally got to see my dear friend Tara for the first time since I went down south. We would normally see each other at least two days a week during the school year so it's weird going a long time without hanging out. We went out to the arts district in Hyattsville and had dinner at "Busboys + Poets." What a cool place! Oh, and the food was so good! (Thanks Kristen for your recommendation!) Afterwards we drove to Annapolis and did some shopping and got yummy frozen yogurt. So good to catch up with one of my favorite gals and have some really yummy food!!
